Journey as a Designer

I have once longed to be a perfect designer one day in life, but there’s a saying, “no one is perfect”. This saying well, apply to almost everything we do in life. That is, hand work, life constructing, farming, designing, producing etc.

But what matters in this journey is how professional and real you are; and with what you engage yourself into. It also includes how far you are willing to go in other to be better and standout from the rest. It’s never easy to be a professional designer, it’s a bumpy long road to walk through. At times, you might be discouraged and feel like” let me quit, I have tried enough”. Well, from experience, it does happen to many people and thus, has made them loose their dreams of being a designer.

Here, I will tell you a few steps on how to be a better designer.

·         STEP 1. Knowing what designing is all about:

You can never be a better designer if you don’t actually have a knowledge of what you’re going into. Designing is mainly about being creative in a unique and outstanding way. If you are still a novice in designing, then I guess a research on Google will help a lot or rather, watch YouTube videos that gears you into being better.

·         STEP 2. Practice makes perfect :

Although as a beginner, your first design wouldn’t be as stunning as the one made by design gurus or professionals on YouTube. It might not even be closed to the one made by contemporaries. But with better practice and having a positive mindset, you’ll become better than most folks who are handicapped by spirits of indecision.

A lot of practice prepares you to be the best, the more you practice your designer work, the better you become.

·         STEP 3. Try doing a lot throw away works:

It’s never easy to be better as a Designer on the starting of your design work. But to be good in what you do best, take on challenging works that are heavier and bigger than you, and try working on them. with this, you can increase your designing ability.

·         STEP 4. Learn from professional tutors:

Learning from professionals who has been into the game before you, helps you a lot, watch a lot of videos made by professional designers like Saul Bass who Designed the iconic, he was also an accomplished logo designer, who designed a plethora of timeless brand marks.

·         STEP 5. Make out a part-time to study design theory and show your design to the world:

Having a personal time or schedule to learn your design work increases your design ability and speed. Do not be shy to show your design to the world, be proud of yourself, be proud of your work. And be proud to show it around.
